Most of what we replace in the village is a single-story ranch with 1,400 to 2,000 square feet of roof on a shallow pitch. Why the shallow pitch changes the spec

Wisconsin code asks for ice barrier from the eave to 24 inches inside the exterior wall. On these houses that is not enough, so we run it well past the minimum and cover the entire deck on the shallowest roofs. The attic is half the job here

Brown Deer ranches have very little attic volume, which is why the village generates more ice dam calls than anywhere else we work. Doing that work while the deck is open costs a fraction of what it costs as a separate job later.

Hail, and what to do if your street is getting new roofs

The corridor north of Milwaukee takes hail more often than the metro average, and Brown Deer sits in it. Hail damage is frequently invisible from the ground, so it is common for a whole block to qualify while only the homeowners who had someone look are the ones who file. Wisconsin policies cover sudden hail and wind damage, not age and wear, and the filing window after an event is limited. We inspect and document at no charge, and we will tell you plainly when what we find is wear rather than storm damage. That answer does not win us a claim job, and it is the reason people call us back.
